2nd ODISSEUS workshop, March 2015

2nd ODISSEUS workshop

A two day student workshop in Oxford focussing on all aspects on ODS (Oxide Dispersion Strengthened) steels,  on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th March 2015.

The first ODISSEUS meeting in Dresden-Germany (December 2013) successfully brought together the next generation of materials science researchers whose research interests are associated with ODS steels. Attendees consisted of representatives from many of the leading ODS orientated research groups in Europe including KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) and HZDR (Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf).

This 2nd workshop brought PhD students and postdocs, whose research interests are associated with ODS steels, to Oxford to update the ODS community on their research progress. In addition to research presentations, discussion groups were held to serve as platform to generate new ideas for tackling current challenges within this research field.

Presentations and discussion topics covered a vast spectrum of topics including:

  • Manufacturing and processing

  • Microstructural evolution

    • Experimental

    • Multi scale modelling

  • Mechanical testing
